The Best Camping an Hour from Los Angeles, CA
Leo Carrillo State Park is the
Leo Carillo State Park has got it all for a quick camping weekend. It is easily the best camping spot in Malibu. All it takes is an hour long drive along the beautiful PCH to arrive at a great camping location. The spots are large with beautiful oak trees and greenery, each with it's own fire pit and picnic table. The campground is paved, so bring your bikes and scooters so the whole gang can bike over to the beautiful Malibu beach a few minutes away. There's even a cute camp store with the basic necessities or glamping accessories you may have forgotten while packings or if you're craving ice cream for that hot summer day. Many sites have electric and water hook-ups and there is a dump station on site. Leo Carillo has some amazing qualities, but the best by far is its beach. There are tidepools at low-tide that feature many sea creatures, such as crabs and sea slugs. There are also massive rocks to climb and places to discover along the shore. The beach is only three minutes away from the campsites! Leo Carillo in general, even excluding the beach, has an abundance of wildlife. All of the campsites are beautiful - the entire campground feels like its own little bubble, away from reality. LITO camping tablecloths are perfect for this environment, as their straps hold strong against the occasional wind and water and sand from the beach won’t ruin them. Just wipe it off!
